River of Life Foursquare Gospel Church
Church Biography
River of Life Foursquare Church of Great Bend, Kansas began its history in 1985. Several people wanted something that the other churches in town were not offering. They decided to form a Foursquare Church. The Church was chartered (30 members on a role) and given the name Prairie Foursquare Gospel Church. The church was located at 1910 Broadway in Great Bend. The First pastor was Rick Dame. Rick pastored for only a short period of time from May 1985 to sometime in 1986. In 1986 Rick Dame left the church to pursue another career. At that time Jack & Verdean LeRoy became the pastors. The church moved to the High Rise at this time. Within a short time the church moved to the corner of 8th and Pine where it was located for about a year. At that time property was purchased at 2000 Monroe St. where it is still located today. Jack LeRoy pastored Prairie Foursquare for ten years. In 199# the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel sought to revitalize the churches and use more spiritually oriented slogan names. Prairie Foursquare Church became River of Life Foursquare Church in 199#. In June of 1997 David LeRoy moved with his family to Great Bend to help Jack in children and youth ministry. Jack LeRoy passed away on June 23rd, 1997. He was 78 years old and had served the church faithfully. On July 27th, 1997 David LeRoy became the pastor of River of Life along with his wife Elaine. Since David's appointment to the position the church has enjoyed sustained growth and a children's ministry has developed. The church has great hopes for its future as it continues in the work of God.
