10 things about Vision/Mission
Mission is why we exists. Vision is what we do to achieve the mission.
Mission never changes. Vision does. Think of it this way. Your mission is the bullseye and your vision is the dart. Sometimes you have to adjust the trajectory to hit the target.
Without a vision a church will perish: “Where there is no vision, the people perish” Proverbs 29:18
Vision is like a Polaroid: It’s fuzzy at first and develops over time.
God has a mission we do not: We are simply partnering in his kingdom expanding mission.
It should be written down: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.” Habakkuk 2:2
It will change: Things may be added, altered or removed as you implement.
It will require sacrifice: Of our agendas, desires, money, time…
Vision attracts criticism: Not everyone will be happy.
Vision comes from the leader (by way of God) but is then honed in and realized by your team: “Visions fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” Proverbs 15:22
